Palm Sunday Celebration in Goulo
Greetings to you all!
As we are about to celebrate the paschal mystery of Christ again on this Easter, on Palm Sunday, 2 April 2023, the beginning of the Holy week, I visited Goulo Catholic community.
Goulo is a community with in my Parish that is situated in the middle of the jungle of East Kwaio. It takes 4 – 5 hours walking up in the bush to reach it. It is one of the communities in which the famous Roger Keesing of the University California spent his time when doing his Anthropological research among the KWAIO people in the 1980s Over the years the people turned to Christianity and so now come into the church.
Today, Goulo became a Catholic community under my pastoral care. On this year’s Palm Sunday, I visited them and celebrated the Holy Eucharist with them. This is part of bringing them into the paschal celebration of Easter.
Many people turned up for the celebration, They put on a life liturgy with singing and dancing. To high light the solemn day, they processed with palms and dramatized the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.
With wishes and regards to you all!
Yours sincerely in Christ!
