Lenten Masses, Buma Parish, Auki Diocese (SI)
Happy and joyful greetings to you all! This time, we enter into another season as according to the liturgical calendar. Now it is Lenten time. The season of lent began on Wednesday 5th of March (Ash-Wednesday) and will go on for 40 days (approximately to 5 weeks), then we reach Easter, where we celebrate the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The call of Lent is for “Repentance from sin and to believe in the good news of Christ”. Others factors that associated with this call too, is to do penance for our sinful ways of life, fasting and doing works of Charity.
As a Priest, It is obligatory to visit the communities in my Parish to administer the sacraments for them, the most important in this time of lent is the sacrament of confession and the Holy Eucharist.
In the first week of lent that had started on Sunday 9th of March and runs to Saturday 15th of March, I managed to visit communities of the Langalanga lagoon, a total of 10 communities.
During my time in each community, I administer the sacrament of penance for the people and celebrate the Holy Mass with them. Many people turn up for the prayers as they have to re-commit themselves to God’s life and to prepare themselves for Easter celebrations.
Having completed the visits for the Lagoon region, I return to the station to have a rest, so that I can visit another two regions in my parish to administer the sacraments for them as well.
With prayer and wishes to you all!
Yours sincerely in Christ!
