Happy and joyful greetings to you all again!
In this month of August, we have another important celebration in our Diocese, it is the celebration of the Catholic mothers. A total of four (4) thousand womens from the 12 parishes within Auki Diocese, gathered together at Takwa Parish Mission station for the celebration. It started on Sunday 11 th of August, till to Friday 16 th of August 2024. The celebration coincides with the Assumption feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary which falls on Thursday 15th August, the Patronage of all Catholic Mothers in the Diocese.
During the days of the celebration, the women’s have the opportunity to attend talks that is presented to them by various speakers on subjects of their interest.Besides the talks, The women’s have time too for religious concerts and dramas and prayers. The women’s greatly appreciate the programs as it empowers them in their roles as mothers as well it help them to take part in the roles of the church in their Parishes.
Catholic Mother’s Celebration of Auki Diocese is ministry or program initiated by the first Bishop of Auki Diocese, late Bishop Gerry Loft S.M. in 1989.It came about because he saw that Women’s have been suppressed by culture in Malaita. Their roles is just strictly in their houses under control of their husbands and not outside, like taking part in ministries and activities of the church. Today, the initiative of the late Bishop is developing in the Diocese .
All the women’s have been so greatful for the program as it ends peacefully and joyful with Eucharistic celebration, presided over by the Dean of Auki Diocese, and con-celebrated with 12 Priests. After all feasting and entertainments follows.
With wishes and regards to you all!
Yours sincerely in Christ!
