Joyous greetings of Christmas to you all! Now we reach the end of the year 2024 and so enter the solemn occasion of Christmas. Christmas is time when we reflect upon Christ’s coming as man in this world. He brings peace, joy, and glad tidings for all. St. John says Christ is the new light for all. If we accept him, we become Children of God (Jn 1:ff).

Here in Malaita, Christmas brings witness to huge number of people coming back home for the holidays. Ships Coming back to Auki from Honiara always loaded with people. In villages, singing bands and youth groups have been performing dances and singing Christmas carols. Church houses have been filled with people for prayers. Indeed, a moment of grace.

In my Parish, I have engaged in visiting local communities to celebrate masses for them. They are to receive the sacrament of penance and Holy communion in the Holy season of Christmas. I also give talks to the people and encourage them to celebrate Christmas in good and true Spirit.

Besides the celebrations in my Parish, on the 28th December 2024, I have the opportunity to attend the 25th Anniversary celebration of one of our fellow Priest Conferer. The celebration takes place in Sasale Catholic community in the Bush of the huge Malaita island. Many people also come to attend the program. They sing and dance to highlight the anniversary celebration. At the end feasting is put on for all.

Friends, we have a great time of celebrations here at this side of the globe and I do hope you have yours there as well. For all, with joyous wishes of Christmas to you all and May God richly bless you as we all look forward for the new year 2025 again.
