Greetings once more!

Saturday, 18 February 2023, becomes another memorable and joyful day for the Catholic Diocese of Auki. Another young man has been ordained into the Deaconate order of the Catholic Church. Hundreds of people attended the celebration which take in St, Augustine Cathedral. Bishop Peter Houhou is the primary celebrant of the mass, assisted by various clergy of the Diocese.

After the mass, the family and relatives of the new Deacon put on a feasting for all people who attended and witnessed the celebration. Many people express their joyfulness for the family of the young man who handed their son freely for the blessing as he will be the first son of the Dorio group of people in Malaita to become Priest. All look forward for his Priesthood  ordination at the end of this year.

On behalf of the Diocese and the Catholic Church, Bp Peter thanked the Dorio people for freely allowing their relative and son to become Deacon. His ordination to Priesthood, the Bishop said, will be a new blessing for the Diocese as the Diocese still needs more Priests to serve.
