Deaconate Ordinations, Tarapaina Parish, South Malaita
Greetings!
Saturday 7th, May 2022, is a great and joyful day for the Parish of Tarapaina.Hundreds of people come together to witness the blessing of two of their young men for Deacons in the church. Bp, Peter Houhou of the Catholic Diocese of Auki is the main celebrant of the Ceremony.Ten Priests attend the Celebration, witness by many Parishioners.
Tarapaina is a pioneer Parish of Auki Diocese. It’s establishment went back as far to 1918 to a man named Ariasi with a French Missionary Priest named Jean Baptist Coicaud.
Later, Tarapaina is renown again for its First vocation for Priesthood, Fr, Donation Hitee, ordained on December 13 th 1967, now deceased. After Donation, no steady track for Tarapaina in vocation to Priesthood. Those aspire to become Priest either quit in seminary studies or left after being ordain.
Today, the ordination for the two young men to become deacons gives hope for the Parishioners as it will add to the number of their Priests again in their Parish. Currently, they have only 3 Priests serving.
Indeed a joyful time, as it is evident in people’s celebrations in liturgy, entertainments and feasting.
With wishes and regards to you all!
Yours sincerely in the Risen Christ!
Fr, Albert Kalu
