Ordination to Priesthood Celebration
Greetings!
This month, December, seems to be a busy time for us. After completing the programs of Southern Malaita, we are having another celebration in the western side of Malaita. This time in St. Augustine’s Cathedral, Fasitoro, Auki Parish.
On Saturday, December 11, another young man was ordained to the order of Priesthood. Hundreds of people come to witness the joyful celebration. In his sermon in the ordination Mass, his grace, Bp Peter stresses that the ordination brings another gift and blessing of God to Auki Diocese, since the Church here still needs more young men to serve the scattered places of the Diocese.
To date, the population of the Catholic faithful in this particular island is about 50 thousand Christians, in 11 parishes and 30 Priests serving the Diocese. The Bishop emphasized that more vocation is still needed.
After the celebration ended, in usual cultural practice here, people move on to feasting and entertainment. They remained on the Parish grounds until evening before going back to their homes.
My wishes and regards to you all!
Yours sincerely in Christ!
Fr. Albert Kalu.
